You will start by randomly selecting one word from List 1 up at my desk. This will be the first word in your typeface. Next, randomly select another word from List 2...that is the second word in your typeface. Below are the words you will be choosing from (we had some great pairings):
list 1Chinese
Arabic Western Bohemian African Tiki Dirty Handmade Art Noveau Gothic Victorian Cherokee Smoky |
list 2Robot
Candy Rodeo Cactus Garden Princess Screen Print Chainsaw Martian Samurai Spaceship Ribbon Butterfly |
step 1: create a storyboard
Once you have your pairing selected, you are going to begin by doing a bit of hefty research for your inspiration. Out of this research you will be creating your very own story board of inspiration. This will allow you to walk us through your understanding and interpretation of these terms that you’ve had paired together. As you will notice with my demo, there is a paragraph there that talks about the type. This will be the very last part of the project, but you need to leave room for this element.
Save your work as “YOUR LAST NAME_STORYBOARD.JPG” and send it in. Remember, keep a PSD file with all your layers open for yourself in case we need to make small changes.
- You will create your storyboard in Photoshop, and it needs to measure 17 inches wide, and 11 inches tall, with 300 for the resolution.
- You need to use high resolution images only, and do not resize any image without holding shift and resizing from the corners.
- Look at my storyboard…as you can see, you can find inspiration in many different places, so don’t limit yourselves.
